Captain O’Connor’s grand niece & nephew Sarah & Fergal O’Connor were interviewed by Kerry Radio shortly after 10am

Easter Rising 1916 by WB Yeats was read by Aisling O’Brien.

Following this all assembled returned to the gym for the final part of today’s celebrations which included Caoimhe O’Brien reading the student body’s 2016 Proclamation followed by Chloe O’Connor narrating the 1916 Proclamation.

All students assembled received a copy of the the 1916 Proclamation as a momento of the day, with Ms Sullivan reminding them that they will remember this day in 50 years time with great affection.

All then rose to hear the Amhrain na bhfiann played on bagpipes by Michael Doyle & Seamus Fleming. The occasion was greatly enhanced by the music and singing of students from across each year group under the direction of Ms Dennehy.

Much thanks to Ciaran Paterson who was busy with sound and amplification for the event, to Jerh O’Donoghue on   video, and  to Nick Kavanagh  Photographer.

The event was a tremendous success and much appreciation to all staff involved in the preparation that went into the event.
