Annual First Year Trip To Cappanalea April 2015

Thumbs up for the Annual First Year Trip to Cappanalea!

April 2015

The First Years along with their year head Mr McCarthy and teachers Ms. Cronin, Ms. McCarrig, Mr. Brosnan and Ms. Woods enjoyed a sun drenched trip to Cappanalea Outdoor Adventure Centre in April.

The student took part in a variety of adventure activities including Abseiling, Rock Climbing, Kayaking and Orienteering. They also worked in teams and took responsibility for chores in the centre. The instructors who had a friendly approach to the students ensured that the activities focused very much on personal development and team building. They encouraged all student to participate, and many discovered hidden skills and talents.

The trip also involved a session of star gazing, which was possible due to the amazingly clear sky, not a cloud in sight, and the expert knowledge provided by Mr. McCarthy. The group were lucky enough to observed the lights of the International Space Station as it moved across the night sky. They also identified the planets Jupiter and Venus, along with the North Star and the Plough, which were easily visible.

The trip was a big success, and was enjoyed very much by both teachers and students alike. A lot of very tired but happy adventurers arrived back in Rathmore. Well done to all involved!
